Logan Banister is a classical and jazz saxophonist and serves as Assistant Professor of Saxophone at Lamar University.

Committed to excellence in performance and pedagogy.

The saxophone’s relatively brief history has been shaped by virtuosic musicians, committed to establishing high standards of excellence in performance and pedagogy while constantly looking forward and innovatively pushing musical boundaries. I have dedicated my education and career to these same ideals, honoring the saxophone’s tradition while contributing to shaping an innovative and inclusive future. In personally striving to master the instrument and preparing the next generation of musicians, I seek to ensure that artistic expression is celebrated as an essential pillar of the human experience in our modern world.

A studio where personal and professional growth is possible.

Success in the music world, as a performer or an educator, increasingly demands versatility that transcends a single genre. To these ends, my teaching is rooted in cultivating my students’ fundamentals, helping them become self-sufficient learners, and encouraging their development into excellent human beings and effective professionals. I believe that, when students are equipped with these skills, they are positioned well to learn continually, sustainably, and have the best chance at finding success.

The Future of the Saxophone: Converging Idioms

From my first experiences on the saxophone, classical and jazz styles have each been central to my musical identity. I am deeply passionate about pursuing authenticity and excellence in both traditions and believe my training in each genre makes the other stronger and helps me become a more well-rounded musician. I am committed to sharing these experiences with my students, as well, and believe that their versatility will make them more marketable and effective as performers and future educators.
